can you use your amazing gifts to predict when the Flames will win another cup??

One thing for sure - it will be sooner than the Leafs - ahahaha

Okay, of course I didn't see either game living in the Boston area but they did a really nice 30 second recap on the news after the last game. I can tell you all every little detail of the Red Socks' performance. However, I really don't give a *** about that. I understand from what I read that the Pens are doing great. I think I need to dump Center Ice and fork out for another 150 channels that I don't want to get VS just to watch a couple of playoff games. How about going to a bar? No chance if the *** Socks are playing. Anyway, great job Pens. Beer Geek, I salute you once again. 2 to go!!!

Did they show the Pens' disallowed goal?  It looked good from the replays I've seen.

They were reporting on our news an idea to have a thin red line painted inside the net a puck's width from the goal-line to help the refs decide if a puck has completely crossed the goal line in video replays -

They didn't show the disallowed goal. I did start looking into TV options which it turns out is pretty confusing. Ultimately its going to cost me $$. If I were to accept that, it would be a simple fix. The main problem is that hockey is still considered a 3rd line sport in the US. That it is all about fighting and you never know what is happening until after the fact. They love baseball, which really is pretty damn boring. Anyway, I did get a game in last weekend after a few weeks off. Got a garbage goal too.

If it comes to a choice paying to play is always better than paying to watch (unless possibly if you are a bit weird that way)

I spare no expense to play. I suck, so I blame my equipment and constantly upgrade to no avail. I will play whenever I get a chance though, because I hate sucking (which is a consequence of learning as an adult, which itself is a consequence of growing up in the Southern California desert) and I desperately want to improve.

With respect to paying to watch, I wold definitely prefer to play but it also would depend on the show. The right show might move your number from 45 to 60. Maybe even times 2!!

Well, it's time for Game 3.   We've won the two in Pittsburgh, but now it's time to move to a place that's as hard to play in as any other, the Wachovia Center.

The Flyers are definitely going to come out hard, with that boost from their fans.  Hopefully the Pens will score a couple quick goals and shut up those Philthadephians!  If not, at least hopefully the Pens can ride out the first period and get into the locker room, which will still be a victory at that point.

Not a must-win for the Pens (I'm expecting a split on the road), but 3-0 would sure put the boot down on their necks and force some serious desperation.

Let's Go Pens!!!!!   Fuck the Flyers! (hey, may as well make use of the specific profanity exemption Big Smile

Edit: I was furious after the supposed non-goal (to say the least); while the application of the rule is technically correct, I thought it was pretty clear that the puck had crossed over sufficiently enough to be called a goal.   Trust me, they've shown it plenty of times around here!

No split. 4-0, dispense with those a-holes asap, especially that dickhead Randy Jones. I'm with you all the way Beer Geek. Gonna follow updates on NHL.com

It's too bad they can't extrapolate.  If the puck was just on the line when the glove wasn't over it and it moved another two inches with the glove covering the point where it would have been on the line, it must have been in by two inches... if that makes any sense.  The puck didn't stretch.  Anyone can see it had to have been in.

The odd thing is that I've seen extrapolated goals called in the past, where the puck ends up underneath the leg pads and that part of the pad clearly ends up in the net deeply enough for there not to be a question.   Maybe Biron's glove just wasn't deep enough to conclusively say every millimeter of the puck was over the line; I don't know.   I thought I saw shots that showed the puck well beyond in reference to the pipes...fortunately, it wasn't a game-changing event.

As far as the standard of video review (conclusive evidence to overturn the ref's call), I have no problem with that.  It's worked so well for instant replay in the NFL (nobody seriously talks about getting rid of it, after all), and seems to be the best balance between getting the call right while respecting the judgment of the official.  (Which I never really do, but someone has to.....)

Re: How will your team do (no really....)

There were 2 horrendous crease calls in the Wings/Stars game yesterday.  First the Wings' goal was called off because Holmstrom's butt was over the crease line, and then Eriksson's goal for the Stars was allowed even though he was well inside the crease.

Since crease violations are not video-reviewable, both calls stood.

While the Stars were due a break for the blown crease call in Game 1 - that was not a game changing decision whereas these I think were..

I guess Wings' ownership will be happy to have another home game though..
