Wes, fortunately I'm without an appointment until the end of the month (have a class to teach in the second part of the summer semester to pay the bills), so I won't have to be up too soon!
I admit that I felt gutted at the end of Game 4, and that realism had struck me with its cruel hand....all the "nice season, but it just wasn't meant to be" type of talk.
Today was a great start, but I have to admit that the 3rd goal sapped me quite a bit. We were in a bit of a funk until Max Talbot (whose jersey I was wearing, courtesy of my brother) scored that amazing goal to raise our spirits.
The overtimes were certainly a nailbiting experience (though made a little easier with the consumption of our lucky beer, Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, from Great Lakes Brewing in Cleveland) , but isn't that what makes hockey great? Both teams gave their all during the 50 minutes of the overtime..I'm just happy to see that Sykora got the goal. That may have been one of the greatest games in recent NHL memory, if not of all time. Kudos to Marc-Andre Fleury and his amazing performance, without which the game would have easily fallen to the Red Wings.
So, now all I can hope for is a win in Game 6, with the momentum and a crowd that is certain to be absolutely rabid. Only after that can we discuss a Game 7.
Let's Go Pens!!!!!!!!!!
